John Maxwell poses 10 practical questions to readers in his book Put Your Dream To The Test. The 10 questions give the reader insight to their own dreams. Each chapter build upon the previous chapter to give the reader more clarity on their own dreams. Maxwell challenges readers in his first chapter to own their dream. If the reader does not own his own dream then the reader may need to consider who’s dream are they trying to fulfill. The ownership question sets the stage for answering the remaining questions presented in the book to follow and live your dream. The passion, cost, tenacity, and fulfillment questions asked from the book continues to challenge the reader to own their own dream. The questions ask if the reader is passionate about their dream, if they are willing to pay the cost to reach their dream, do the have the staying power to stick to their pursuit of their dream and lastly will they find fulfillment and satisfaction in reaching their dream. The book ends with a step by step process for the reader to map out their dream ownership to the fulfillment of their dream. This book is inspiring as well as challenging with tough question for readers to answer in pursuit of their dreams.

"Awakening" is awesome

Do you feel you have no passion for God? Do you feel your worship to God is not as lively as it once has been? Do you feel you have to pray, have to go to church, or have to read your bible? If you answered yes to any of these questions then Stovall Weems’ book “Awakening” is for you or even a loved one who has lost their fire for God.

Awakening is powerful book that guides the reader into having or re-establishing a passion for God. Stovall Weems discusses how awakening begins with total surrender to God. It’s about not your way but God having his way in your life. Weems stated that surrendering to God is not a legalistic way of I “have to” surrender but a desire that I “want to surrender to God.

In his book Weems takes the reader through a process of understanding how to have an awakening experience with God. Weems discusses how awakening is about having a passionate relationship with God. As Weems takes the reader through the awakening process each chapter ends with a testimonial of real people who have gone through a 21 day awakening experience. Most of the awakening experience is a period of prayer and fasting. Weems discusses how the principle of fasting awakens the spirit to a new passion for God. Weems ends the book with a step by step 21 day guide to follow to have an awakening experience. The book also ends with a three week study guide for small group study.

Overall the book is a good resource guide to developing a passionate more intimate relationship with God through prayer, fasting, bible study, and devotional time with God. This book is a must read for those who want to jumpstart or rekindle their fire for and relationship with God. I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.

Time With God For Fathers by Jack Countryman

Jack Countryman’s book “Time with God for Fathers” is an inspiring book of devotionals. Jack uses everyday subjects to inspire and encourage fathers in their daily walk with God. The devotionals ministers to areas such as forgiveness, honor, praising God, fear, comfort, and love to name a few. The devotionals also have special points just for fathers such as a father’s reward, a father’s legacy, a father’s character, and a father’s faith. Each devotional entry has a scripture verse and a word of encouragement relating to the scripture verse. The words of encouragement can really minister to the heart of the reader. I found myself substituting the words father with the word mother to make it more personal to me but this book is a must read for fathers. I think this book would be a great gift idea to give to fathers for any occasion.

I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com for this review.

In the presence of the Lord

If it were not for my relationship with God I do not know what my life would be like.  I have had many trials and tribulations in my life but I am so thankful to God for bringing me through the dark places in life.  I am content with this season of my life right now and I thank God for this new season in my life.  I enjoy my quiet time with God away from the hussle and bussle of life.  The quiet times are serene for me and I cherish every quiet moment I can spend in the presence of the Lord.
