"Awakening" is awesome

Do you feel you have no passion for God? Do you feel your worship to God is not as lively as it once has been? Do you feel you have to pray, have to go to church, or have to read your bible? If you answered yes to any of these questions then Stovall Weems’ book “Awakening” is for you or even a loved one who has lost their fire for God.

Awakening is powerful book that guides the reader into having or re-establishing a passion for God. Stovall Weems discusses how awakening begins with total surrender to God. It’s about not your way but God having his way in your life. Weems stated that surrendering to God is not a legalistic way of I “have to” surrender but a desire that I “want to surrender to God.

In his book Weems takes the reader through a process of understanding how to have an awakening experience with God. Weems discusses how awakening is about having a passionate relationship with God. As Weems takes the reader through the awakening process each chapter ends with a testimonial of real people who have gone through a 21 day awakening experience. Most of the awakening experience is a period of prayer and fasting. Weems discusses how the principle of fasting awakens the spirit to a new passion for God. Weems ends the book with a step by step 21 day guide to follow to have an awakening experience. The book also ends with a three week study guide for small group study.

Overall the book is a good resource guide to developing a passionate more intimate relationship with God through prayer, fasting, bible study, and devotional time with God. This book is a must read for those who want to jumpstart or rekindle their fire for and relationship with God. I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.
